I couldn’t be happier with this trailer, not just because it’s purpose-built for a tiny house on wheels, but because it’s made by Fred’s Tiny Houses, the people who pioneered DIY tiny house movement in Australia. I’d already done Fred’s workshop when I bought my trailer and seeing how much Fred and his team care about getting things right and empowering even novice builders like me to build their own tiny houses, I had full confidence that the trailer would be built to the highest standards and be safe not just to live in, but in transit as well. And it has been: I’ve been living in my tiny house for three years now and have moved it once, and have had no problems at all. The fact that the trailer comes with a building technique, the Unified Construction Method, was also a big factor in my decision, making my DIY build a lot easier than it might otherwise have been. It’s also great to have such honest and dedicated people to call if you do have any problems or questions during the build. If I ever build another tiny house on wheels, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Fred’s Tiny Houses trailer – and this flat-top model was perfect for me, giving extra storage space in my kitchen cupboards and under my stairs; I also opted for the under-floor aluminium storage boxes, which are huge and so convenient to access (through floor hatches) and the hot-dip galvanising was important since I live on the coast and wanted to minimise rust (no rust yet!). Five stars from me!
