Tiny House Trailer Reviews:

Rian Silberstein: Welder, Inventor, Builder

When I started my tiny house journey, I wanted to source the best trailer I could find. From experience, if you want to build a high quality, lasting structure, the foundation is the most easily undervalued component. Given the highly specialised requirements, I was genuinely blown away by what Fred’s Tiny Houses had to offer. The level of design consideration put into the trailers would be at home at a larger company with a significant R&D department. The quality of fabrication is unbeatable and once completed, the entire trailer is hot dip galvanised for longevity. The online course provides all the information needed for any able bodied person to complete their own build. After sales service and support is generous and readily available. If you’re considering investing time and money into a tiny house, the products and services developed and offered by Fred and Shannon are simply unbeatable.

This trailer is absolutely fit for the purpose. We found building on it clear and uncomplicated. The trailer body has every appearance of strength and I am confident that rust will not be a problem even in my very wet area in Far North Queensland. We stick built using Fred's UCM and the included brackets on the trailer simplified the build. The supplied wires and fittings for the high clearance lights made that job simple. Our tiny house is now registered as a caravan in QLD. Job done.

I couldn't be happier with this trailer, not just because it's purpose-built for a tiny house on wheels, but because it's made by Fred's Tiny Houses, the people who pioneered DIY tiny house movement in Australia. I'd already done Fred's workshop when I bought my trailer and seeing how much Fred and his team care about getting things right and empowering even novice builders like me to build their own tiny houses, I had full confidence that the trailer would be built to the highest standards and be safe not just to live in, but in transit as well. And it has been: I've been living in my tiny house for three years now and have moved it once, and have had no problems at all. The fact that the trailer comes with a building technique, the Unified Construction Method, was also a big factor in my decision, making my DIY build a lot easier than it might otherwise have been. It's also great to have such honest and dedicated people to call if you do have any problems or questions during the build. If I ever build another tiny house on wheels, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Fred's Tiny Houses trailer - and this flat-top model was perfect for me, giving extra storage space in my kitchen cupboards and under my stairs; I also opted for the under-floor aluminium storage boxes, which are huge and so convenient to access (through floor hatches) and the hot-dip galvanising was important since I live on the coast and wanted to minimise rust (no rust yet!). Five stars from me!

Fred & Shannon are incredible people offering an incredible service. I could not be happier with my Fred's Tiny House Trailer - the design has been thoroughly thought through and is absolutely purpose fit for building a tiny house. It has been super easy integrating the trailer and tiny house frame. BUT, this isn't even the best part. Fred & Shannon have put together an incredible information resource in their tiny house online course, not to mention Fred's ability to answer any question you may have. These people genuinely care! Couldn't recommend highly enough! Thanks Fred and Shannon

From start to finish, Fred and Shannon have been very helpful in providing their feedback to my unique circumstances. Even before purchasing one of the trailers they wanted to understand my background and what I would like to achieve. The optional course offered is highly informative and valuable and would definitely recommend to anyone deciding on continuing with building their own tiny home even if one of the trailers isn't purchased, I learnt so much about what's really important and what to look for. Upon purchasing a trailer for myself, what you order is what you get, quality built as described and very strong and sound trailer with well thought out design, perfect for it's purpose. Finally having the option to have the trailer registered prior to being ready was very convenient and saved a lot of extra stress in the process. If you're looking for a tiny house trailer, look no further, all the hard work has already been done here, couldn't recommend them more, thank you.

We did Fred's course and ordered a trailer from him for our DIY build. We would absolutely recommend both! The trailer is sturdy and built with so much consideration. The course and consultations with Fred gave us the confidence that we could build a strong, watertight tiny home ourselves. Fred and Shannon are incredibly good at what they do - clever, thoughtful and generous. 100% recommend.

Tremayne Todd, Builder: Manuka Tiny Homes

The quality is of this trailer is outstanding! The rust-resistant hot dipped galvanized finish ensures durability, while the tie-down and sub-floor connections made securing and bracing the steel frames seamless. The built-in underfloor storage, accessible from inside, is perfect for larger items like winter clothes and sporting gear. We opted for protruding wheel arches, which allowed us to drop the floor and maximize height in the loft—ideal for creating extra space. Fred and Shannon provided invaluable support throughout, and the trailer’s measurements were precise, which made the build smoother. As a registered builder, we highly recommend Fred’s Tiny Houses for anyone building a THOW. Their trailers are top-notch, and their advice is invaluable.

“All parked. Your trailer paid for itself today. I don't reckon any other tiny house trailer in aus would handle what we did today. The excavator operator was impressed by it and said if it wasn't so good we would have needed a crane ($8000 minimum). Yesterday we also heard that there are some tow truck companies not taking tiny houses after an A frame collapsed on a driver and the tiny home company tried to sue the driver. Very grateful for your amazing care and ongoing development of your trailers. Thank you”

Another happy workshop customer here. Fred's wealth of knowledge, is a really nice change to most people just having "information" that they've read or seen. There are so many little things that people get to learn and discuss in these workshops, some may seem small, but the cumulative result can mean all the difference between being happy with your Tiny House, or needing to go back and rebuild lots of annoying things. If anyone's considering the course, please do all 4, as they make up a set that's greater than the sum of each. No matter how much or little you may know, you'll still gain something from these courses. It's also refreshing to see Fred is totally open to being informed of other ways and the latest information.

Outstanding insights into the specialist knowledge of building a sturdy tiny home on wheels. Even as an experienced tradesperson, I learnt important distinctions that will convert potential mistakes into successful tiny home builds. Thanks Fred & team. May I fully recommend Fred’s Tiny House on wheels course. My daughter became interested. She asked me along to give her an insight into the course and the whole movement. Council open night discussions and tiny house expos were a mixed bag of uncertainty. I had a vast building employment and was nearly 65 years of age. I’d worked with truely amazing tradesmen on big projects and became amazed at what can be done. Fred’s Tiny Houses were in a melb suburb nearby. Being arrogant but open-minded I listened really carefully to the two day course. I ordered a trailer, and started. I had no fear of the project but everyday I was reminded in my mind from the course, do this, consider this, remember this, and I was happy I’d gone with Fred’s Tiny Houses. Sometimes I forged my own methods from experience. Sometimes I recalled what the course set out and I knew; I shouldn’t be so arrogant. I had to remember that I was building a tiny house on wheels. Fred was spot-on in every aspect of the course and extra advice thereafter. I put him up there with the great tradesmen I worked with over the years and the advice he and they offered. No regrets at all with the tiny house and it’s complete. One regret really! I wish I had listened more carefully to every point. They are all important. I’d recommend the course which extended my learning.
